Bedtime Stories at 40 winks...

Last Wednesday evening we made our way up the Mile End Road in torrential like rain to stop off at the gorgeous 40 Winks hotel for Bedtime Stories evening. My Mum, my sister and I were greeted at the door by eccentric interior designer Mr Carter who ticked our names off the list before we were led upstairs by girls in glamorous nighties to change into our own nightwear.
Stepping foot inside 40 Winks seemed similar to falling down the rabbit hole into Wonderland and we were excited for the evening ahead!

My sister ready for bed

When we were ready we headed all the way downstairs to drink gin cocktails out of teacups and across the course of the evening were entertained by two very different story tellers telling tales of enchantment in two of the gorgeous rooms of the house with our fellow bedtime buddies.

At the end of the night we were treated to songs by a lady dressed in a Hawaiian style silk dress playing a ukulele and two prizes were given out. The prestigious 'glamorous nightie award' scooped by Fiona from Scotland and 'the most flirtatious guest award' went to none other than... ME! I was given a huge bottle of Hendricks gin for my cheeky efforts! Thanks Mr Carter! (hic!) We left on a high feeling like we were part of something that not many people knew about. A truly unique experience, highly recommended!
