All Systems Go!...

London fashion week aside what a mad few weeks it has been! I've had a great time going around various television shows for Cher Lloyd to promote her new single and have done my fair share of celeb spotting! Pip Schofield what a hero... (& Jeff Brazier... swoon!) and with half the Notion team out and about covering fashion week there has been lots to do at the office too organising the cover shoot for the next issue featuring hot property Rita Ora!... and we also moved offices to a brand new location in City Road yesterday which we are all very excited about!
I have lots of photos to post up so keep checking back!

Styling Gemma...

I have just recently started working with Radio 1Xtra's Gemma Cairney and will be styling her for any upcoming events, appearances and television work. Here she is messing around with Caroline Flack at Thursday nights Bjorn Borg party held at Battersea Power Station. I had hoped to attend the event myself but had an early start with Cher Lloyd on Daybreak Friday morning!

Keeping Up Appearances...

Trying not to be flaky on the blog posting already but this week has been so busy! Looking unlikely that I'll be making it to any fashion week shows due to other projects that I'm working on personally and with Alexis, but it's good to be so busy I can't complain! I think I'd be more concerned if I did have time to attend all of the shows, although there are a few that I'm excited to have a peek at such as Meadham Kirchhoff, House of Holland, Felder Felder, PPQ, Moschino Cheap and Chic and Fashion East to name a few!

So I'd like to leave you with this image before I go to sleep. YES the whole Versace for H&M and 'funkybling' thing has been absolutely done to death by the X-Factor 2011 wardrobe team BUT I'm so drawn to this from Vogue Japan...

Kandee Shoes SS12 LOUD! launch...

Yesterday afternoon was spent eating pick n mix and rainbow coloured sandwiches and drinking raspberry topped cocktails at the long awaited Kandee Shoes SS12 launch! Myself and intern Sharaye made sure we got all of our work done in time so we could head over to the event at the Sanderson Hotel!
Kandee fans Amy Childs, Nicola McLean and Harry Derbidge were in attendance in the same space where Cheryl Cole had her 28th birthday party. I had a chat with Mr Kandee, Josh Wayman who had two reasons to celebrate after the Kandee twitter page hit 10'000 followers before the party had even begun!

LOUD! is made up of 26 pairs of delicious blinged out shoes, with some cheeky reissues in there and also the highly anticipated sneakers which will definitely be in Cher's wardrobe as soon as we can get our hands on them! Heres a sneak preview of 4 of my favourites (clockwise from top left)... the Blue Raspberry Dragee (£180), Addict (£180), Lagoon (£160) and the Dirty Lemonade Sneaker (£180) Thats your lot until you can see the full collection on the website from March 1st, along with the lookbook shoot I worked on which I still haven't seen yet!

With what is already shaping up to be a huge waiting list I predict a sell-out! Until then get a sweet treat for your feet at the AW Sugar Rush sale www.kandeeshoes.com
Cheers Mr Kandee and thanks to CAN Associates girls Charlotte and Lottie!

Working with Cher...

Since Alexis became Cher Lloyd's stylist, I have been working with her closely on the project. It all started back in November with a very busy day styling her for her promo shots! We had pulled such a large selection of clothes and did 10 looks on the day so it was nice to finally see one of the images in yesterdays press! Cher appeared in Heat magazine, The Metro and The Sun looking lovely! Jumper by LauraLaura at the Laden Showroom, Shorts by Your Eyes Lie and Boots by Rock & Candy at Schuh...

Happy 25th Kipling...

Last week I attended the Kipling 25th Anniversary party held at the Hospital Club! Their 'Play With Bags' project saw 8 artists create unique and playful images of the signature Kipling rucksack which were displayed in an exhibition on the evening! We danced to tunes played by Sunday Girl, drank waaaay too much Strawberry beer and ate posh hand shaped chocolate and sweet waffles dunked in melted chocolate! Thanks Surgery PR for a great night!

Like Takin' Kandee From a Baby...

A few weeks ago Alexis was asked to style the lookbook for Kandee shoes... VERY EXCITING! Kandee Shoes launched in 2010 and it hasn't taken long for the brand to be on the lips of industry experts, the pages of fashion magazines and the feet of starlets like Nicola Roberts, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian!
I went along to the shoot on the day with an outfit that Alexis had arranged to be specially made and got an exclusive look at the whole Spring Summer range of scrummy shoes as they were shot for the website! A great day was had with Mr Kandee and the gang but I am only allowed to blog behind the scenes photos after Kandee have their official website launch on March 1st! Until then I'll leave you with this sneak peek...

Diane von FurstenBURGER...

Something that you should know about me is that I'm pretty much obsessed with the concept of food and fashion combined and also love any clothing with food printed on it... especially junk food! So I'll be posting my favourite images where you can see food and fashion collide!

Hello and Welcome...

Hello and welcome to my blog! I wasn’t too happy with my previous one so I thought with the new year, I’d make a new start with a new blog!

So I’ll start with a little bit about what I’ve done before and what I’m doing now.

My name is Danielle and I’m a fashion stylist working in London as first assistant to MAJOR stylist in the industry Alexis Knox! I love what I do and have just arranged to stay with her for a bit longer, as we have so many exciting projects to work on but it has been a challenging yet exciting road to get here!

I studied Fashion Promotion and Imaging at UCA in Epsom but never fully got to grips with education in that sort of environment… so if I could give advice to anyone who wants to get into the fashion industry, I’d tell them to skip the colleges and uni’s and do exactly that instead.Get yourself out there! Intern, assist, watch, learn, get your hands dirty and find out exactly what area it is that you want to specialize in. Put yourself in real situations with admirable industry experts and talents.

I can honestly say that I discovered so much more working as an assistant in a very short space of time than I ever did in four long years. That is not to say that fashion courses are useless or a waste of time but it just didn’t work for me as I have the attention span of a goldfish and couldn’t deal with writing 1’500 words on the hidden meaning of this image!!...

...haha!

My first proper work experience was in the costume department of hit ITV2 show Secret Diary of a Call Girl, working beneath some of the best in the business costume designers Edward K Gibbon and Jane Tooze. My uni had given us time away to do a placement and I loved every minute of it!

Then I was lucky enough to score an internship on the sixth series of The X Factor in late 2009, working for the fabulous Faye Sawyer! I spent my time on the show working on the dancers outfits at the weekends with my partner in crime Shai Spooner, who is now a respected stylist dressing Dappy and Fazer from N-Dubz! Styling the dancers was such a huge task so props to the assistants who were in charge of it! I contributed and learnt so much on that job, it was my little fast track to a styling career!

During this time I also had the opportunity to do a bit of work as a costume assistant on Skins up in Bristol so grabbed it with both hands and travelled up (is it up?) to stay with some family friends. I was right at home as it was the same team from Call Girl so had a great, albeit soggy, time helping out with costumes for the extras and doing checks on set for a few days!

After this I finished up at UCA (phew!) and then decided to take some time out to go and see some of the world just in case I didn’t get the chance again! Although I’ve now decided that I will be making time for more adventures after my trip of a lifetime to South America. So stay tuned!
